Dr. Olczak has garnered a laudable reputation as a clinical psychologist and professor emeritus, having accrued more than four decades of expertise in the realm of conflict resolution and the social determinants of behavior. Throughout the course of his career, he drew great satisfaction from working with patients at the Family Court Psychiatric Clinic in Buffalo, New York, and at Hopeyale Inc., in Hamburg, New York, and later for the Amherst Police Department in Amherst, New York, and Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital. Ultimately, he retired from Eastern Niagara Memorial Hospital in 2014, where he had focused his practice on child and adolescent psychiatry. As an educator, Dr. Olczak was aligned with State University of New York from 1977 to 2008, where he was a professor and chairperson of the psychology department.
A seasoned researcher, Dr. Olczak initially began conducting his studies while pursuing his graduate degree, during which he published numerous papers. He distinguished himself as a SUNY scholar and had the opportunity to publish with Dr. Dean Pruitt. In 1991 he co-edited "Community Mediation" which was later translated into a Spanish version, was a co-author of "The POI (Personal Orientation Inventory) in Clinical Situations: A Review" and "Self-Actualization: Polemics Surrounding Its Use. During his professional career, Dr. Olczak has contributed five additional book chapters, more than 40 publications to various professional journals and delivered 48 papers at various professional meetings.
In preparation of his professional career, Dr. Olczak received a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy at Northern Illinois University in 1969 and 1972, respectively. To support his professional career, he has been a member of several pertinent organizations, including the American Psychological Association, the Society of Experimental Social Psychologists and the International Association for Conflict Management. Additionally, Dr. Olczak was named a fellow for Advanced Professional Competence by the American College of Advanced Practice Psychologists.
Dr. Olczak was awarded Best Theoretical Paper at the Seventh Annual Conference of the International Association for Conflict Management in Eugene, Oregon, in 1994. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been featured in over 30 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. Outside of his professional circles, Dr. Olczak has been married to his wife, Marie Rose Oliveri, since 1973, and together they are the proud parents of three children.
