MIDDLETON, WI, July 24, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Michael F. Caldwell, PsyD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Caldwell celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Caldwell is a well-respected psychologist and one of the co-founders of the Mendota Juvenile Treatment Center, a 29-bed secure treatment facility located on the property of the Mendota Mental Health Institute. Located in Madison, the Center offers comprehensive mental health services to teenaged boys whose highly aggressive and unmanageable behavior and failure to respond to standard treatment has warranted their transfer to the facility from the Wisconsin's juvenile corrections system. In attending his role, Dr. Caldwell provides clinical treatment and risk assessment services for these violent adolescent offenders. He also conducts research into risk assessment methods and the effectiveness of treatment interventions with adolescent offenders with callous or unemotional traits.

In addition to his field work, Dr. Caldwell is a tenured psychology lecturer at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, for which he teaches courses on juvenile delinquency, risk assessment, treatment, and brain development. He is also a forensic consultant who has been in business for himself since 1987, and a consultant for the Urban Institute, a Washington D.C.-based think tank which carries out economic and social policy research, and the MIND Research Network at the University of New Mexico, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which focuses on imaging technology and its emergence as an integral element of neuroscience investigation. Throughout his career, Dr. Caldwell has worked as a consultant for numerous other organizations as well, including the MacArthur Foundation Research Network on Juvenile Justice, the National Academy of Sciences Sackler International Scientific Forum on Neuroscience and the Law, the Sandra Day O'Connor School of Law at Arizona State University and the Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.

A seasoned researcher, Dr. Caldwell presently serves as the co-principle investigator on several National Institute of Mental Health grants where he is investigating the neuroscience of aggression and the changes in the adolescent brain associated with effective treatment. He has also notably published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters related to risk assessment and treatment of violent adolescent delinquents and adolescent sexual offenders. A fellow of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, Dr. Caldwell is also a member of the American Psychology-Law Society and a member and past president of the Wisconsin chapter of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers.

Originally an engineering major while in college, Dr. Caldwell volunteered for the suicide hotline crisis intervention program. Within just two years, he began running the organization. Developing a passion for psychology, he subsequently pursued a Master of Science in counseling psychology and began affiliating as a patient psychotherapist at Carnegie Mellon Hall for several years. From there, Dr. Caldwell acquired a Doctor of Psychology at the University of Denver and became a diplomate of the American College of Forensic Medicine.

Dr. Caldwell was the recipient of several Office of Justice Assistance grants from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention from 1997 to 1999 and every year since 2001. He was twice bestowed with an Outstanding Achievement Award from the State of Wisconsin Department of Human Services in 1991 and 1992. A remarkable Marquis listee, Dr. Caldwell has also been featured in the 58th edition of Who's Who in America.
