Acquired in 1973 as an adjunct faculty member and audiovisual reference librarian of the health science library, she was later promoted to various other positions, including as a resource librarian of the health sciences library, before advancing to her ultimate role. Notably, Ms. Blazar also chaired the staff advisory council between 1996 and 1998. Today, she enjoys volunteering at her local library and delivering books to Amish schools in her area.
Ms. Blazar's enthusiasm to pursue health sciences stems from her aunt, who earned distinction as a nursing administrator while the younger woman came of age. Originally, she aspired to become a language teacher, but knew that a career in that field would be difficult to find. Since Ms. Blazar already knew French and Italian, and that librarians were often required to know two languages, she decided upon library science.
An alumna of Pennsylvania State University, Ms. Blazar received a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction and the Honors Program in French in 1972. Shortly thereafter, she acquired a Master of Science in library science at Case Western Reserve University in 1973 and completed advanced training at the National Library of Medicine. Moreover, Ms. Blazar has held an Academy of Health Information Professionals certification through the Medical Library Association since 1975.
Today, Ms. Blazar remains active as a member of the Pennsylvania State Alumni Association, the Porsche Club of America and the Corvette Club of America. In 2006, she was bestowed with a Technology Improvement Award from the National Networks Library of Medicine. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Blazar has been showcased in the 64th through 68th editions of Who's Who in America, the 28th through 30th editions of Who's Who in the World and the 28th edition of Who's Who of American Women.
