Inspired by a healthcare worker who cared for her grandmother at her home, Dr. Anyakudo pursued a career in medicine. Drawing upon years of expertise in geriatric medicine, she excels as a hospitalist for IPC The Hospitalist Company Inc., a physician for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and a clinical assistant professor with Mercer University's School of Medicine. Due to her considerable knowledge of the field, Dr. Anyakudo has conducted a number of presentations nationwide, including "Clinicians' knowledge and behavior regarding Osteoporosis screening and management" and "Elderly Lady with Dizziness" at the National Medical Association's Annual Scientific Assembly.
Before obtaining her current positions in medicine and education, Dr. Anyakudo gained valuable experience in the field as a clinical associate in the department of labor and delivery at Sibley Memorial Hospital, a medical assistant for Capital Pediatrics, a medical director with Wisdom Medical Center, an attending physician with Holy Rosary Hospital and a house staff member with Federal Medical Center in Nigeria. In pursuit of her aspirations, she earned a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1998 and completed a residency through the Morehouse School of Medicine in 2010. The following year, Dr. Anyakudo graduated with a doctorate at Mercer University's School of Medicine.
In light of her outstanding body of work, Dr. Anyakudo has been highlighted on many occasions, accepting the Minority Scholarship Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Southeast Center of Excellence in Geriatric Medicine Resident Award from the University of Alabama and the Residents' Forum Award for Outstanding Oral Presentation at the National Medical Association's Annual Scientific Assembly in 2009. Over the years, she has also received the Community Service Resident Award from the Morehouse School of Medicine and the Family Medicine Resident of the Year Award from the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians. Likewise, Dr. Anyakudo was presented with the Kensington-Hartford Geriatric Fellow Award from the Gerontology Society of America.
Dr. Anyakudo remains aware of changes in the field through her affiliations with Nigerian Physicians in America, the Nigeria Medical Association, the Middle Georgia Medical Association, the American Organization of Medical Directors, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Nigeria Medical Council and the American Geriatric Society, among others. Outside of her work, she contributes to her community with the public school career and Atlanta Health Fair at Atlanta Public Schools. Looking toward the future, Dr. Anyakudo aims to continue flourishing as a professor in medical education.
