Originally hailing from Germany, R. Peter Spies received his law degree from the Rheinische-Friedrich-Wilhelms University and successfully completed the mandatory professional prerequisites before he was admitted to practice law in his home state Nord-Rhein-Westphalen. Upon completing his legal education, he traveled to the United States to earn a Master of Laws in intellectual property, with honors, from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He subsequently took the bar exam in Michigan and has been admitted to practice in the state of Michigan.
