KNOXVILLE, TN, July 29, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shelly L. Wilson has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
The recipient of the President's Award from the Knoxville Bar Association in 2011, Ms. Wilson is a distinguished attorney with an emphasis on complex litigation and antitrust, commercial and corporate law, municipal and government law, employment law, general litigation and family law. She initially received a Bachelor of Arts in 1982 from Florida Southern College in Lakeland and before earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1987 from Stetson University's College of Law in Gulfport, FL. Subsequently, Ms. Wilson was admitted to practice law by the Florida Bar in 1987 and the Tennessee Bar in 1999.
Joining Owings, Wilson & Coleman in 1999 as an associate attorney, Ms. Wilson's talents quickly earned her a position as a partner in 2000 and the role of a managing partner in 2014. Prior to working at the aforementioned firm, she served as an assistant public defender for the State of Florida from 1988 to 1999. Additionally, Ms. Wilson taught municipal government law at the Duncan School of Law at Lincoln Memorial University in 2019.

The co-chair of the Knoxville Bar Association's committee on continuing legal education, she has found success as the chairperson of the Ethics Bowl CLE Program Planning Team.
Additionally, Ms. Wilson has participated on the Board of Governors for the Tennessee Bar Association, where she served as Secretary in the 2019-2020 term, and was a twelve-year member of the House of Delegates for the Tennessee Bar Association, previously serving as its Speaker, Vice Speaker and Secretary. From a young age, Ms. Wilson felt a calling to enter into a profession that enabled her to serve as a protector of people's rights and felt that studying law was the best arena to achieve that goal. She attributes her success to a strong work ethic and surrounding herself with like-minded individuals. Looking toward the future, Ms. Wilson aims to remain at Owings, Wilson & Coleman, while adding more attorneys to the firm and, when not at the office, dedicating more time to her grandchildren.
