Mr. Cheris has excelled within the legal field since 1972, most recently flourishing as the principal of his own firm, Cheris Law since 2004. He also served as the general counsel and managing director of International Business Group from 2014 to 2017. Earlier in his career, Mr. Cheris contributed as a member of the management committee for law firm, Hall & Evans, in Denver between 1972 and 2000 and as General Counsel for Relera from 2000-2003 and Blackhawk Geophysical from 2003-2004.
At the start of his profession, he worked as a law clerk to Judge Robert Kunzig at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington D.C. from 1971 to 1972, before joining Hall & Evans in 1972. In addition to his primary endeavors, he was a professor of law at the Strum College of Law at the University of Denver and adjunct at the University of Colorado at Denver School of Business. Admitted to practice law in the State of California in 1972, Mr. Cheris was later accepted to the Colorado Bar Association, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, between 1972 and 1973.
In preparation of his illustrations career, Mr. Cheris attended Brooklyn College in 1967 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Four years later, he secured both a Master's in Business Administration and Doctor of Jurisprudence from Stanford University, in 1971. To remain knowledgeable of changes in the field, Mr. Cheris maintains affiliation with American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel, the American Bar Association, and the American Arbitration Association, among others.
A published author, Mr. Cheris co-authored the book "Doing Business in Colorado – A Guide for Architects and Engineers," was published in 1987. Utilizing his expert knowledge of the field, he also served as an executive editor of the Stanford Journal of International Studies and an editor of the Stanford Law Review, between 1968 and 1971. Outside of work, he enjoys fencing. Having been involved in the sport of fencing for more than five decades, Mr. Cheris contributed as the referee, Member of the Technical Directorate and Chief of Protocol at a number of Olympic games and has held several positions with the International Fencing Federation and USA Fencing.
