As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. A seasoned attorney with many years of experience in construction, contract, environmental, international, maritime and civil law, Patricia McGarvey Rosendahl excels of counsel with Greenberg Traurig LLP. In her practice, she focuses on construction and environmental matters while advising clients on governmental regulations and environmental aspects for public and private construction projects, oil and gas recovery projects, insurance coverage matters and remediation projects, among other issues, as well as handling international arbitrations in various locations around the world. Prior to her current position, she practiced law at the Coats Rose law firm, a regional firm specializing in construction law where she served between 2005 and 2011. Generally, Ms. Rosendahl's work focuses on large multi-party cases being prepared for formal arbitration proceedings or for trial for which she serves as a selected member of a litigation team chosen for her expertise in particular areas.
Early on in her career, after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a triple major Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, earning a 4.0 GPA while a single mother living in public housing, she worked for the Texas Department of Health as a long-term care investigator. In this role, she was recruited to a specialized task force by the Texas attorney general to work with a legal team investigating serious violations by health care providers resulting in patient deaths, eventually leading to grand jury proceedings and a criminal trial. Until this point, Ms. Rosendahl had never considered law as a career, viewing it as tedious and boring, but this experience was enlightening. Immediately thereafter, she applied to law school, was accepted, and completed law school at the top of her class with additional academic honors, including becoming Chancellor of the Order of the Barons and head article editor of the Houston Journal of International Law.
After graduating from the University of Houston School of Law in 1987 with a JD degree, Ms. Rosendahl was admitted to practice law through the State Bar of Texas, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Ms. Rosendahl remains active in various professional organizations, including the international, environmental and construction sections of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas, as well as the construction, environmental, and energy sections of the Houston Bar Associations. Notwithstanding various honors, Ms. Rosendahl considers her most notable achievement to be keeping clients loyal, happy, and out of legal difficulties over long periods of time. She attributes her success to hard work, tenacity, intellectual curiosity, and a reputation for being very thorough and rarely if ever wrong.
With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, Ms. Rosendahl contributes to various professional journals, including Law 360 articles. For her professional excellence, she was recognized by the Chambers USA Guide and among U.S. News' Best Lawyers for her work in environmental law. In 2015, she was knighted by the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem at Balgonie Castle in Scotland. More recently, she was highlighted in Women in Business Magazine in the United Kingdom as the USA and Environmental Liability Expert of the Year in Houston. In her limited spare time, Ms. Rosendahl manages a small ranch that provides natural habitat to wildlife and that includes a tiny orchard of heirloom apples, which provides her opportunities to learn new skills. She advises those looking to pursue a similar field to persevere, to develop a rewarding private life, and to enjoy the journey as well as the destination.
