Backed by the memory of giving her mother a goodnight kiss as a young child and having the scent of her perfume linger, Ms. Phillips was inspired to pursue a career in the fragrance industry as this recollection proved that the link between fragrance and emotion is undeniable. In the 1970s, she pursued a bachelor degree in legal theory and finance at the University of South Africa and a Bachelor of Arts in speech and drama, English, French and economics at the University of Cape Town. Subsequently, she relocated to the United States and conferred with a headhunter to find a job. Within weeks, Ms. Phillips was offered three jobs, one of which was with Elizabeth Arden.
After gaining valuable expertise with the aforementioned fragrance conglomerate as the national training manager, then was promoted to product development for cosmetics, and marketing for the Fine Fragrance division, Ms. Phillips accepted a post with Lancôme as the marketing director of fragrance and men's treatment. During the 1990s and 2000s, Ms. Phillips continued honing her industry expertise through executive and consulting positions with such companies as Royal Brands, Burberry Fragrances, the Lancaster division of Coty US, Inc., Trish McEvoy Ltd., Avon and Oilily Brands.
More recently, Sue G. Phillips worked as a fragrance spokesperson for Downy Infusions with Procter & Gamble. Today, she excels as the chief executive officer, president and a fragrance expert of her own company Scenterprises Inc., a position she has held for nearly 30 years. In 2009 she established The Scentarium, the first Bespoke Perfume company in New York, where she creates custom fragrances for individuals, groups, corporations and has met with celebrities such as Jamie Foxx, Katie Holmes, Zendaya, Susan Sarandon, and many others to create their own original fragrances. Throughout her career, Ms. Phillips has had the honor of consulting for many companies looking to enter the Fragrance world. Additionally, she authors articles regarding fragrance trends for industry publications and blogs, and her first book will be published and launched in January 2021.
Furthermore, Ms. Phillips has provided her wealth of knowledge as an adjunct professor at LIM College and the Fashion Institute of Technology. She remains professionally aligned with a number of industry organizations, including the ISES International Special Events Society, CEW Cosmetic Executive Women, the Fragrance Foundation and FGI Fashion Group International, in order to remain aware of changes in the field. A lifelong philanthropist, Ms. Phillips contributes to those in need through Heart for Haiti and fundraising events for various Alzheimer's organizations.

In previous years, she was nominated among Martha Stewart's American Made and featured on Oprah Winfrey's The "O" List. Looking toward the future. As a Fragrance Expert, Sue G.
