Having enjoyed a prominent career in law for more than five decades, Mr. Ross worked in New York City for the length of his career. Mr. Ross' vocational journey began to take shape as an associate at Shearman & Sterling in 1967 and he became a partner at the firm in 1975. After more than 25 years with the firm, he departed to serve as deputy general counsel of Citicorp (and then Citigroup), and as general counsel for Citibank and Citigroup International where he spent more than 10 years. He then became counsel for Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hall and Dorr LLP for two years. More recently, Mr., Ross has served as a consultant with Blackwell Legal Consulting, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Clutch Group and an advisor to Morae Global in Houston.
A passionate civic advocate, Mr. Ross has notably been a longstanding member of the board of directors and the finance committee of the Greater New York Councils of the Boy Scouts America since 1998. He formerly spent more than a decade on the board of directors of the AIESEC US, a nonprofit, international youth leadership organization, between 1979 and 1992 and again between 2009 and 2017. To support his legal endeavors, Mr. Ross has maintained his professional affiliation with several prominent legal organizations, including the American Law Institute, the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York County Lawyers Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is also a member of the University Club.
Prior to embarking upon his professional path, Mr. Ross pursued a formal education at Franklin and Marshall College, from which he attained a Bachelor of Arts in English literature in 1963. He subsequently continued his studies at Columbia University, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1966, and concluded his academic efforts in 1967 at the London School of Economics, where he graduated with a Master of Science in International Law. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Ross has been showcased in over 70 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
