A celebrated attorney of more than 60 years, Mr. Green recently retired from Seham, Seham, Miltz and Peterson in White Plains, New York, where he focused his practice on commercial, corporate, transportation and real estate law. The firm, which is based in White Plains, notably represents clients in all areas of labor and employment law, transportation, energy, real estate, corporate and family law. He began his legal career in 1957 as an attorney for Eastern Air Lines Inc., and later worked for C.I.T. Corporation as general counsel. Throughout the course of his career, he attained various positions of high leadership with several other organizations, including Seatrain Lines Inc., as the executive vice president, co-chief executive officer and senior counsel between 1981 and 1990. Mr. Green also provided his expertise as a consultant for several companies and was an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc. and the National Futures Association.
To support his community, Mr. Green is active with Gray Matters in New York City, a nonprofit organization that provides pro bono services to create better futures in the surrounding areas. Established in 2000, it is comprised of likeminded attorneys and other professionals, who have extensive experience and are nearing retirement. Mr. Green also proudly supported Learning Leaders, another nonprofit that supports New York City public school students by encouraging families to promote student success.
To prepare for his legal career, Mr. Green initially studied at the University of Michigan, where he received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in economics in 1953 and 1954, respectively, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was subsequently accepted to the prestigious Harvard University, where he earned a Bachelor of Laws in 1957. Mr. Green has been admitted to practice law by the Illinois and New York Bar Associations, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S Supreme Court.
Affiliated with several pertinent organizations throughout his professional career, Mr. Green has been an active member of the American Bar Association, the American Bureau of Shipping, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He was also the recipient of a Woodrow Wilson fellowship between 1953 and 1954. Mr. Green was married to Miriam Green, a psychologist and also a Who's Who listee, until her passing in 2000. They have three children and seven grandchildren.
