Mr. Lewisohn is an attorney who has been practicing law for over 40 years. He is currently specializing in matrimonial law and divorce, including enforcement and post-trial modifications, as well as prenuptial agreements. With a lifelong interest in the legal industry, Mr. Lewisohn felt that becoming an attorney would be a way to do the most possible good for the community and his clients across a spectrum of circumstances. He holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Vermont Law School, and has been sworn in to practice before all federal and state courts in the State of New York.
Although initially interested in working in community legal aid, Mr. Lewisohn accepted a position as an Assistant District Attorney for Queens County, New York, following his law school graduation. While a student, he placed among the top of his class (law review), and developed a strong interest in criminal law and litigation., He soon found that he enjoyed the proceedings and could easily apply the same values that drew him to legal aid to other types of practice. He brings his strong ethical foundation and diverse legal experience to his work with the Law Offices of Lewisohn & Lewisohn, a joint practice he established with his wife.
Dedicated to encouraging the next generation of legal professionals, Mr. Lewisohn taught and coached high school mock trial teams throughout Nassau County, New York, and presided over national and regional mock trial competition finals. He provides pro bono legal counseling to indigent individuals and families as well as to public school personnel in cases where a student's family legal disputes enter the classroom, and he has been honored for his service to the community at large by his local synagogue.
Mr. Lewisohn is the parent of a disabled son, alongside two other children (both attorneys), and considers supporting his son's progress to be his greatest accomplishment. He looks forward to remaining in practice for years to come, and hopes to build a strong financial foundation to pass on to his children and grandchildren.
