After more than 35 years of experience as a geologist, Ms. Merritt retired in 2000 from her position as an international industry analyst with Marathon Oil Company, where she worked since 1980. Ms. Merritt previously held various roles as a geologist throughout the country with Belco Petroleum, Hotline Energy Reports, Inexco, Wolf Ridge Minerals, and GeoScout Petroleum Services, plus as an aide for a government contract with the University of Utah. After retirement, she continued to work as a consulting geologist.
In 1956, Ms. Merritt received a BS Professional degree with Honors in Geology from the University of Wyoming. At UW, she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Ms. Merritt is a Licensed Professional geologist certified by the State of Wyoming Board of Professional Geologists.
Aligned with several industry-related organizations, Ms. Merritt was very active in the International Oil Scouts Association. She was also active in the American Association of Professional Geologists, the Wyoming Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the Rocky Mountain Association of Petroleum Geologists. Ms. Merritt was showcased in the 21st edition of Who's Who in the West and the 22nd and 23rd editions of Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
