Esteemed for his wealth of professional experience in the performing arts, Mr. Doster has proven himself to be a versatile and hard-working figure in a variety of fields. For more than a decade, he performed in a number of productions with the NobleMotion Dance Company, including "Drone" in 2018 and 2019, "Unsinkable" in 2018, "Ziggurat" from 2017 to 2018, "Flashburn" in 2016, "Photo Box D" in 2016 and "Kinky Cool Fan Blowing Hard" in 2010, among many others. With the aforementioned dance company, Mr. Doster appeared before such venues as the Breaking Ground Contemporary Dance Festival, the Hobby Center in Houston, the Dance Gallery Festival, Artists for Hope at San Jacinto College South, the Bailando Dance Festival, the Lone Star Ballet at the Globe News Performing Arts Center, the Barnevelder Theater and the Alvin Ailey Theatre in New York City, to name only a few.
After his time with NobleMotion Dance Company, Mr. Doster joined and toured with Pilobolus Dance Theatre between 2010 and 2016. Prolific as a member of the "Shadowland" company, which performed in more than 30 countries across four continents between 2012 and 2015, his dance performances with Pilobolus were often featured on several German television programs, as well as on Al-Arabiya Television, BBC One, "No Dimongao Do Faustao" in Rio de Janeiro, the HIPA Photography Award Show in Dubai and before the Russian Olympic Committee in Moscow. Moreover, Mr. Doster toured with the company's performance of "Magnifico," as produced by Andre Heller in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, including at the red-carpet event for the Life Ball in Vienna.
Mr. Doster was additionally associated with the Aimed Dance Company, which was formerly known as the Rednerrus Feil Dance Company. He was initially recruited for "Strong Moves Slow" by Amy Llanes, which was performed at competitions, festivals and ceremonies for the American College Dance Festival Association and Sam Houston State University. Mr. Doster subsequently returned to the Aimed Dance Company to co-produce and perform in "Four" alongside Amy Elizabeth in 2016, which was notably featured at the 32 on 32 Concert in Houston. As a long-time collaborator with Aimed Dance Company, Mr. Doster has co-directed, shot, and produced several dance films such as "Desquamation" in 2017, "Strong Moves Slow" in 2015, and "Whispers" in 2011.
Mr. Doster has found success in the field of education as well, having excelled as an Assistant Professor of Dance at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, since 2019. Teaching a number of dance masterclasses at Lamar University throughout 2019 and at the South-Central American College Dance Festival from 2016 to 2018, he has also served as an instructor on partnering and improvisation, modern, hip hop, floor work, and choreography at Sam Houston State University between 2010 and 2018. A former graduate assistant at Sam Houston State University from 2016 to 2018, Mr. Doster has sporadically provided his wealth of knowledge to masterclasses at San Jacinto Community in 2016, Rice University in 2016, Lone Star Community College in 2012 and Houston Community College in 2011.
In recent years, Mr. Doster has focused his time, attention and resources to various endeavors beyond the stage and classroom. Originally considering a career in architecture and engineering, he acquired an extensive background in drafting while working in the drilling and construction industries. In 2015 he taught himself how to weld and has since garnered valuable expertise in metal fabrication as the designer, lead fabricator and owner of Texas Tough Customs, a specialty fabrication shop that specializes in custom suspension, roll cages, and bumpers for the off-road industry. Likewise, Mr. Doster has been active as an independent photographer and videographer through his second company, Angles N Motion, having refined his skills in real estate photography before working on commission for portraits, wedding photography, personalized photoshoots, and promotional video content. Through Angles N Motion, he has participated in multiple film productions as a director, cinematographer, producer, editor and choreographer throughout his career, assembling credits on projects such as 2018's "In the Clouds," 2017's "MOD's Epic Dance Film," 2017's "Desquamation," 2016's "REM," 2015's "Strong Moves Slow," 2010's "Touch" and promotional videos for Crowd Pleasers Inc, Rhodes Realty, and Adam Olsen Realty.
Prior to embarking upon his unique professional path, Mr. Doster pursued an education at Sam Houston State University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance in 2010 and a Bachelor of Science in industrial technology development and design during that same year. Mr. Doster eventually concluded his studies at Sam Houston State University in 2018, graduating with a Master of Fine Arts in dance.
In addition to his primary responsibilities, Mr. Doster has explored numerous areas of the entertainment industry in relation to his areas of interest. Operating as a choreographer since 2008, he has created original works such as "Young Love," and "Restless" which were recently performed at Northwestern State University in 2020, "Eros" at Lamar University in 2019, and "Within a Dream" at Sam Houston State University in 2018 among many others. Furthermore, Mr. Doster has flourished as a set designer since 2016, designing and constructing metal cubes, wooden concentric frames, a PVC faux tree installation, and a multitude of other structures for professional dance companies, members of the faculty as Sam Houston State University, and fellow dance colleagues within the industry. His most noteworthy creation was his original choreography and set design entitled "Umbilic," to which he also performed in. This work showcased the interconnectedness of his knack for choreography and his affinity for set design and was awarded Dance Magazine's Outstanding choreography Award at the National American College Dance Festival in 2018. "Umbilic" continued on to be featured at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Jacob's Pillow Inside Out Dance festival, The dance Gallery Festival in NYC, Against the grain Dance Festival in Seattle, and at the McCallum Dance Festival in Palm Desert, California.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Doster has accrued several accolades throughout his multifaceted career. He has been recognized by Sam Houston State University with myriad honors, such as an Undergraduate Choreography Award in 2009, a Dance Performance Award in 2010, a Dance Collaboration Award in 2017, an Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award, Dance and Technology Award and a Graduate Choreography Award in 2018 and another Dance and Technology Award in 2019. He was also celebrated by the aforementioned university with a dance performance scholarship in 2010 and inclusion among Heritage Magazine's 15 under 30 Professionals in 2015. Mr. Doster was further presented with the National Outstanding Choreography Award from Dance Magazine and the American College Dance Association in 2018."
Growing up without much advantage in life, Mr. Doster attributes his success to his extreme work ethic, motivation to succeed, and the quality and craftsmanship of his work. He is proud of the unconventional path that his career has taken him down, having traveled around the world and developed many talents as a result of his commitment and ambition. Looking toward the future, Mr. Doster will continue his outstanding work with Texas Tough Customs, as well as continuing to operate his photography and video production business Angles N Motion.
