Having accrued more than 20 years of inimitable experience in the field of education, Mr. Grubbs has garnered a laudable reputation as the principal of Coventry Elementary School in Crystal Lake, Illinois, since 2015. Among his duties, he oversees 75 staff members and 600 students in a Title I dual language school. His daily responsibilities also include fostering collaborative relationships with staff, student and parents, evaluating curriculum and supervising instruction, and ensuring and promoting a positive educational culture. Mr. Grubbs also hires and trains staff members, including teachers and other non-certified staff.
While coming of age as a student, Mr. Grubbs was fortunate to have teachers that made learning an enjoyable experience. Although he was initially disengaged from his studies, his teachers were able to capture his interest and influence him to pursue the field professionally. He began his career as a teacher at Moweaqua Elementary School and Hannah Beardsley Middle School, during which he received a Master of Arts from Northern Illinois University in 2003. Advancing into positions of high leadership, Mr. Grubbs served as an assistant principal at Bernotas Middle School and principal at Lundahl Middle School before stepping into his current position. He is a member of such professional organizations as, Leadership Greater McHenry County and the Illinois Principals Association.
Throughout his career, Mr. Grubbs has gained expertise in leadership and developing relationships with co-workers and students. He has attributed his professional success to the relationships he has built throughout the community, as well as his propensity for determination.
