Leading an impressive career in manufacturing for many years, Mr. Gouldey retired from his role as the group vice president of technology, strategy and acquisitions for Eaton Automotive Group Worldwide in 2017. Aligned with the organization since 1975, he worked throughout the country, beginning in Flemington, New Jersey, as a senior planner. Continually progressing throughout the years, he earned the roles of marketing and materials manager and plant and general manager in Beaverton, Oregon. Mr. Gouldey also spent a great deal of time in Carol Stream, Illinois, as the vice president of sales and marketing and as general business manager, followed by several upper level management positions in Southfield, Michigan.
Eaton, which manufactures and sells products all over the world, notably produces machinery that create power, as well as hydraulic systems, fuel systems, electrical switches, and transmissions for trucks. It is also known as a power management company. During his tenure with the organization, Mr. Gouldey had the opportunity to travel outside the U.S. to places like Europe, Asia, Latin America, India and Australia. He also acquired several patents in his field with respect to electro-mechanical controls.
A community leader for years, Mr. Gouldey was active on the board of advisors for Oakland University and the Michigan Colleges Foundation. He also served in various capacities for the Rochester Community Schools Foundation, including as the chairperson of the board of directors of the scholarship and finance committees. To support his long and distinguished career, Mr. Gouldey has been aligned with several industry-related organizations, including the American Production Inventory Control Society and the Society of Automotive Engineers International. He is also a certified member of the National Youth Sports Coaches Association.
Mr. Gouldey received a Bachelor of Science in business at the College of New Jersey in 1976. He later completed postgraduate coursework at Portland State University and Dartmouth College and received the Executive Scholar Certificate in Finance at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management in 2007. Since his retirement, Mr. Gouldey began spending much of his time in Florida and recently completed the Florida Master Naturalist Program, an adult-education program designed to teach and promote awareness, understanding, and respect of Florida's natural world to students. He is notably certified in purchase management and production, as well as inventory control.
