With more than 30 years of professional experience, Mr. Doub has excelled as an environmental scientist and a terrestrial ecologist with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission since 2008. Prior to his current roles, he worked as a senior environmental scientist with Tetra Tech NUS, Inc., from 1989 to 2008. Earlier in his career, Mr. Doub served as a consultant in vegetation management with Baltimore Gas and Electric from 1987 to 1988, and as a graduate research assistant from 1984 to 1987 evaluating herbicides.
Mr. Doub initially pursued an education at Cornell University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in plant sciences in 1982. He continued his studies at the University of California Davis, earning a Master of Science in plant physiology in 1984. An NRC contracting officer's representative, he holds a Duke NEPA certificate from the Duke Environmental Leadership Program, and the US Army Corps of Engineers has designated him as a wetland delineator. Mr. Doub is further certified as an environmental technical reviewer and contracting officer technical representative by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, a Maryland Forest Conservation Act qualified professional by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and a professional wetland scientist by the Society of Wetland Scientists and Professional Certification Program.
Throughout his career, Mr. Doub has been celebrated for his achievements. He has received performance awards for work performed in each recent year. Mr. Doub has authored numerous journal articles and contributed to two books on the National Environmental Policy Act and the Endangered Species Act. Mr. Doub is a frequent speaker at annual conferences of the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) and currently serves as an at-large elected board member. Mr. Doub is currently working on several initiatives to transform and streamline environmental reviews of new nuclear reactors, especially micro-reactors and other advanced reactors.
