Driven by a desire to pursue a career that would allow him to be of service to his clients and society as a whole, Mr. Sennett received a Bachelor of Arts from Quincy University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Loyola University Chicago. He was subsequently admitted to practice law in the state of Illinois and the Supreme Court of the United States. Beginning his career as an associate at Bell, Boyd & Lloyd, he remained active with the firm for 30 years and eventually became the chairperson of antitrust and regulation. In 2007, Mr. Sennett became a partner at Jones Day, with whom he practiced antitrust and competition law through 2019. Most recently, he became the general counsel of the Water Quality Association.
While studying at Loyola University, Mr. Sennett excelled as the executive editor of the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal. He has also long served on the adjunct law faculty of Loyola University, teaching antitrust law and international antitrust law, and on the board of advisors of the Institute for Consumer Antitrust Law Studies. As a respected voice in his field, Mr. Sennett has contributed numerous chapters to books, as well as articles published with scholarly law journals.
Civically, Mr. Sennett served as a trustee of Quincy University and continues to serve as trustee of Children's Home and Aid and of its Foundation. For his accomplishments as a dedicated lawyer, he was inducted into the Quincy University Legal Hall of Fame, and International Who's Who of Competition Lawyers and Economists. Likewise, Mr. Sennett has been listed among the Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA Leading Lawyers and Illinois Super Lawyers.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Sennett has handled the antirust aspects of numerous billion dollar global transactions as well as many landmark antitrust cases in a career spanning 40 years in the field. He maintains his professional affiliation with the Chicago Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Lawyers Club of Chicago. Outside of his vocational circles, Mr. Sennett enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his children in sports and following them through high school and college, playing soccer into his 50s and traveling.
