Backed by 20 years of legal expertise in matters regarding sexual abuse, nursing home abuse and medical malpractice, Ms. Kanatzar excels as a partner with Dollar, Burns & Becker, with which she represents clients in a wide range of civil cases. During her time with the aforementioned firm, she was also appointed by the Supreme Court of Missouri to serve on the 16th Circuit Bar Ethics Committee, which reviews complaints brought against other lawyers, as well as the advisory committee. In 2019, Ms. Kanatzar also channeled her desire to advocate for others into a presentation titled "How to Keep Your Loved One Safe."
Before her position with Dollar, Burns & Becker, Ms. Kanatzar gained valuable expertise in the field as an assistant prosecuting attorney, working for the majority of her tenure in the Prosecutor's Office in the Child Abuse & Sex Crimes Unit. Dedicated to obtaining justice for victims that cannot advocate for themselves, she prosecuted felony cases, including but not limited to crimes perpetrated against children, robberies, assaults and homicides. Although her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Kanatzar is especially proud of the number of jury trials she has prosecuted, which is approaching 50.
In pursuit of her aspirations, Ms. Kanatzar earned a Master of Science from Drake University in 1991 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Notre Dame in 1994. She has remained professionally affiliated with several legal organizations, such as the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the Jackson County Child Sexual Abuse Task Force, the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, to name a few. For her professional excellence, she was presented with the Louis Lombardo Prosecutor of the Year Award in 1997 and the Women's Justice Award from Missouri Lawyers Weekly in 2018.
