Dr. Hunter is an esteemed curriculum development and distance education specialist with a lifelong dedication to changing the way that children learn. Driven by years of hands-on experience in teaching, consulting, media production and educational sales, she created Educational Media Enterprises.
As the author and creator of "The Dooples", Dr. Hunter continues to develop cutting-edge, multimedia learning approaches to teach young children. The Dooples are based on the adventures of a cast of relatable writing tools to help children learn life lessons and who, like children, learn by doing. Initially, The Dooples emerged as a series of books: "Meet the Dooples," "The Dooples and the Shapes" and "The Dooples Communicate," illustrated by Mark Gandy and his daughter, Taylor.
She expanded the Dooples with her fourth book," The Dooples in the Land of Doo." She then teamed up with Charles Mandracchia, director, animator and composer to produce an off-Broadway musical "The Dooples in the Land of Doo-The Musical" that appeared in NYC at the Cherry Lane Theater . Soon after, they released "The Dooples in the Land of Doo: The Music Book," detailing the production's 16 original songs, as well as an animated music video for the song "Message-Communicate." The musical animation, WE ARE FRIENDS, and has currently won over 30 international film awards for animation, directing and writing. The two are now planning on producing a musical animated series for young children to learn how to read. Most recently, Dr. Hunter re-created a public service animated announcement promoting the virtues of friendship, that she first presented as a writer and producer for WNYE-TV, the New York City Board of Education television station.
Dr. Hunter began her career in New York City Public Schools, as a teacher, curriculum coordinator and supervisor. Soon after, she entered the educational sales and publishing industry as a consultant, sales representative and regional manager for dozens of national textbook publishers. Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Hunter pursued her education at Brooklyn College, earning a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science in Education and Doctorate in Education Leadership/Child and Youth Studies from Nova Southeastern University. In addition, she has earned professional certifications in early child and elementary education, supervision and administration, and gifted & talented education.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Hunter and her team hope to continue providing learning alternatives through multimedia, as she aims to ensure that stories and programs featuring "The Dooples" become household commodities for children around the world.
