NEWARK, NJ, August 28, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Freida Scott, ThD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Scott celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having accrued numerous years of inimitable expertise in her professional field, Dr. Scott garnered a laudable reputation as a parent educator coordinator on behalf of Raising Innovations in Special Education (RISE) in Newark, New Jersey, before her retirement. An expert in special education, she contributed much of her time toward advising parents on how their child should be classified. Likewise, she earned distinction for her passionate and informative group and one-on-one workshops. In her role, Dr. Scott's ultimate goal was always to ensure that every child could gain approval by their peers, that they not be judged solely by their classification and, ultimately, receive the services they deserve. In retirement, Dr. Scott continues to consult throughout her community with parents to give back.
Aspiring to leave the world a better place than she found it, Dr. Scott conducts herself by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who once said, "Whatever your life's work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead and the unborn could do it no better." Known throughout her community for more than just her expertise in education, Dr. Scott also serves as an associate pastor at her local church.
Dr. Scott's desire to pursue a career in education arose from the challenges that she faced during her own child's classification. Moreover, she was inspired to teach by one of her former elementary school teachers, Irene Smith. Attaining a Bachelor of Arts in early childhood education at Jersey City University in 1977, Dr. Scott subsequently completed a Master of Arts in teaching and curriculum at Columbia University in 1980 and a Doctor of Theology at the United Bible College and Seminary in 1984.
During the length of her career, Dr. Scott maintained her professional alignment as a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Recognized for her achievements, she received several teaching awards from the East Orange Board of Education, the Evangelical Bible Institute and the New Jersey Jets. A tireless advocate for children, Dr. Scott is the proud mother of three of her own. She is also a grandmother to three, and a great-grandmother to four.
