Mr. Sanderford has also found success as the managing member of E&S Developers LLC since 2012, a small development company that specializes in single tenant retail.
Mr. Sanderford's impressive professional history formerly included nearly three decades as a college basketball coach. First hired as an assistant professor, director of intramurals and women's basketball coach at Louisburg College in 1977, he led the team to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championships in 1980 and were the National Runners-Up in 1981. Mr. Sanderford was subsequently recruited as the head women's basketball coach at Western Kentucky University (WKU) in Bowling Green in 1981.
During his nearly two decade athletic career in Kentucky, his team played in 17 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) tournaments, eight Sweet 16s and three Final Fours. They were the NCAA National Runners-Up in 1992. In another wonderful accomplishment, the team notably played the national championship against Stanford, which was a huge accomplishment. In 1997, Mr. Sanderford became the head women's basketball coach at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE, for another five years, where they enjoyed three straight NCAA tournaments, which had not been done in nearly 15 years. Returning to WKU in 2002, he contributed for four years on campus as the assistant men's basketball coach before retiring from sports.
Mr. Sanderford attended Methodist University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology in 1972. Accepted to North Carolina State University soon thereafter, he received a Master of Arts in guidance counseling in 1974. During the course of his coaching career, Mr. Sanderford was aligned with the NJCAA Coaches Organization. In this capacity, he served as the vice president from 1981 to 1982.
Among his accomplishments, Mr. Sanderford was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Methodist College in 1999, the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 2000, the WKU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008, the Louisburg College Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015. He was also thrilled to have a jersey bearing his name hung in the rafters of the WKU E.A. Diddle Arena in 2010. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Sanderford has been featured in the 29th through 35th editions of Who's Who in the Midwest.
