A navy brat and son of a naval architecture commander, Mr. de Frondeville served in the French Naval Architecture Corps during the 1950s before accepting the post of a reservist in 1965. During this time, he gained valuable expertise in engineering as a senior engineer and the director of metallurgical research and quality assurance. Subsequently, Mr. de Frondeville worked as the president of American Technigaz, Inc. for two years.
Following these appointments, Mr. de Frondeville flourished as a senior staff member of Arthur D. Little from 1967 to 1972, the vice president of projects and engineering for Burmah Oil Tankers from 1972 to 1975 and a managing director of BDF International Co. between 1975 and 1992. Over the years, he was additionally active as an adjunct professor at Pace University, a senior advisor for BNP, an instructor of ethics seminars at Columbia University and both the vice president and a senior engineer for the Technology Services Group of Deutsche Bank. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Mr. de Frondeville is affiliated with the environmental section of the New York Academy of Sciences.
An expert in his field, Mr. de Frondeville initially earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and science from Lycee Chasseloup-Laubat in Saigon in 1950. He later obtained a Master of Science from Ecole Polytechnique in 1955, a Master of Science in naval architecture from ENSGM in 1958, and a Master of Science in nuclear engineering from the University of California Berkeley in 1959. Mr. de Frondeville concluded his academic efforts with postgraduate coursework at Columbia University's School of Business.
Even though his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. de Frondeville is especially proud of being recognized by MIT for his approach to climate change, and designing and building he first French Naval Nuclear submarine. Devoted to his community, he contributes to those in need through the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Citizen Financial Advisory Committee and the Manchester Sailing Association. Backed by his vast knowledge in the field, Mr. de Frondeville has authored a number of articles and publicly spoken on such topics as "Managing Technical Risks of Advanced Power Projects," "Risk Management in Financing Gasification Plants," "Financing Gasification Plants for Power or Chemicals," "Reliability and Safety of LNG Shipping: Lessons from Experience" and "Some Highlights of Foreign Experience in Deep Water Port Development."
Due to his professional accomplishments, Mr. de Frondeville was presented with a Certification of Appreciation from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2018. Additionally, he has been featured in Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Looking toward the future, Mr. de Frondeville intends to enjoy his well-deserved retirement, with strong contributions to city and school budgets and climate change mitigation at state and international levels.
