After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Communications and a Minor in Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Sands became a Sales Specialist for IBM. He subsequently served as a Sales Manager for PCHS Staffing Solutions Inc., a Territory Manager for Snowden Pencer Plastic & Recon Surgery at Cardinal Health, and an Orthopedic Sales Consultant for Smith & Nephew. During a later stage of his career, Mr. Sands aspired to offer an all-in-one specialty pharmacy option for different types of medication in the Health Care industry. To this end, he Co-Founded SandsRx, LLC in 2013 alongside his brother, Steve Sands, where he serves as the Chief Executive Officer.
SandsRx consists of a brand new 7,000 square-foot pharmacy headquarters in Wylie, Texas, which features two advanced, state of the art compounding labs, and a large front-end lobby for whole food supplements and organic vitamins. SandsRx also has two other pharmacy locations: SandsRx Frisco and SandsRx McKinney, as well as a separate call center location, known as SandsRx Central.
Mr. Sands and his team have managed to build one of the fastest growing independently owned specialty pharmacies in the United States. What makes SandsRx Pharmacies unique is that they offer regular retail medications, custom compounded medications, and specialty medications. Within those categories of prescriptions, they focus on the following specialty therapies: Fertility, Dermatology, Pain & Neurology, Hemophilia & Bleeding Disorders, Hormone Replacement Therapy, and Veterinary medications.
SandsRx has experienced incredible growth over the past several years. Under Mr. Sands' direction, SandsRx earned the rank of 471 on the 2019 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America. In 2020, SandsRx made the Inc. 5000 list again with an official rank of 797. SandsRx pharmacy was also named a 2-time winner of Frisco Style Magazine's 2019 "Best of Business Awards", Best of Murphy, TX Business Awards, and Best of Wylie, TX Business awards 3 years in a row.
Mr. Sands has attributed his professional success to his team, communication, his ability to bring people together to focus on a common vision, and being able to quickly adapt to change. Outside of his vocational circles, Mr. Sands enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He loves being a volunteer Coach for his three sons and their sports teams. He was also the Co-Founding Member of the Dallas Chapter for the Young Texas Against Cancer. He maintains his professional affiliations with Texas Independent Pharmacy Association, Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding, and the National Association for Community Pharmacists. Looking toward the future, Mr. Sands and his brother Steve plan to expand the business to a national scale.
