Holding a Bachelor of Arts in political science and religion from Florida A&M University, Mr. McGhee has over two decades of experience in state and local politics in the state of Florida. Mr. McGhee now serves as the chief operating officer with Johnson & Blanton LLC, through which he represents a variety of corporate and nonprofit clients in the Florida government. In his current position, he is entrusted with providing oversight of day-to-day operations at the firm and ensuring all employees meet the needs of their 70 to 80 clients. Throughout the course of his career, his firm has become one of the top ten grossing lobbying firms in Florida.
Mr. McGhee handles Johnson & Blanton's entire executive branch and deals with K-12 education, economic development and criminal justice lobbying matters. In addition to his work in politics, he is also a licensed and ordained minister, serving as a pastor of Bible Based Church Tallahassee, a growing congregation in the Tallahassee community. Mr. McGhee has also worked in leadership positions for three Florida governors; Jeb Bush, Charlie Crist and Rick Scott.
Mr. McGhee maintains further affiliation with the United Way of the Big Bend board of directors, the Village Squares board of directors, the Children's Movement board of directors, the Young Life FAMU advisory council, the Florida Commission on Human Relations (gubernatorial appointee) and the 2nd Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission (gubernatorial appointee). In recognition of his manifold accomplishments, he was the 2019 Earned Legacy Award Recipient from the Innovative Community Engagement Foundation, and the 2018 Leadership Tallahassee Distinguished Leadership Awards – Leadership Pacesetter awardee. He was nominated for the 2018 Tallahassee Democrat's Volunteer of the Year and the 2017 runner-up for Education Lobbyist of the Year. In addition, he received the 40 Under 40 Award from MavPac, was named as the Executive Branch Lobbyist of the Year and was recognized as an All Star among Florida Trend's 30 Something Making Their Mark. Additionally, Mr. McGhee was listed among America's Best Youth Pastors by Gospel Today Magazine.
