Having established his general practice law firm in 1998, he specializes in personal injury, workers' compensation and medical negligence. Mr. Culbert is a former partner at Jones, Snead, Wertheim, Wentworth & Jaramillo in Santa Fe, where he contributed for two decades. He was also a law clerk to the Honorable Mack Easley of the New Mexico Supreme Court in Santa Fe.
Among his civic duties, Mr. Culbert has proudly supported the Desert Chorale in Santa Fe as a member of the advisory board and as a board director. To support his esteemed career, he has been a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Culbert is a life member of the Santa Fe Canyon Association and Alpha Delta Phi and is notably a semi-professional flamenco guitarist, with more than 25 years of experience to his credit.
Born in San Antonio, Mr. Culbert decided to follow the example of his father, who was an attorney for the federal government. After graduating from high school, he attended Cornell University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1966, followed by a Master of Arts at the University of Buffalo in 1969 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of New Mexico in 1977. While pursuing his law degree, Mr. Culbert excelled as a processing editor for the university's New Mexico Law Review between 1976 and 1977. He has been admitted to practice law by the New Mexico Bar Association, the U.S. District Court of New Mexico and the U.S. Court Appeals for the 10th Circuit.
Recognized for his volunteer work, Mr. Culbert received a Star Award for Pro Bono Services. He has also been acknowledged with an Honorary Certificate by Strathmore Registry of Business Leaders and has been rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
