Having garnered a laudable reputation as a corporate attorney and vice president for governmental affairs on behalf of Sears, Roebuck and Company, Mr. Aires enjoyed nearly 25 years of exemplary service as an attorney and retail company executive until his retirement in 1993. He subsequently contributed for another five years as the executive director of the Pennsylvania Economy League Inc., a nonpartisan, public policy think tank for local and state government. Additionally, Mr. Aires was an attorney for Colorado National Bank in Denver and for Montgomery and Little in Denver between 1962 and 1968.
Throughout the course of his career as a corporate attorney, Mr. Aires had the opportunity to introduce President Ronald Reagan during a meeting where he was presiding as President of the Business-Government Relations Council, the top business organization in Washington, D.C., at that time. He also had the good fortune to work on several pieces of legislation that came into fruition, including the American with Disabilities Act. Likewise, Mr. Aires attended bill signings at the White House Rose Garden, a truly unique opportunity.
Heavily involved in his community, Mr. Aires, who has moved back to his home state of Pennsylvania since retirement, began serving on the board of directors of the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet in 2017. His interest in the arts has also included serving on the board of directors for the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Market Square Concerts, the Harrisburg Opera Association and Cantate Carlisle.
As an alumnus of Dartmouth College, Mr. Aires served as the president of his class and on the Dartmouth Alumni Council. Among other roles, he was the chairperson and a board director of the Bryce Harlow Foundation in Washington, D.C. Most notably, however, Mr. Aires served on active duty in the U.S. Navy between 1957 and 1959, and remained in the Naval Reserve between 1959 and 1981, rising to the rank of Captain in the Judge Advocate General's Corps.
Mr. Aires received a Bachelor of Arts in 1957 from Dartmouth College. He later attained a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Michigan in 1962, after which he undertook postgraduate studies at the University of Colorado. Mr. Aires has been admitted to practice law by the Colorado, California, and D.C. Bar Associations, the Supreme Court of the United States, and the U.S. Court of Military Appeals.
To remain aware of developments affecting his profession, Mr. Aires joined several relevant organizations, including the American Bar Association, the D.C. Bar Association, the California Bar Association, and the Colorado Bar Association. Well regarded for his contributions to the field, he was acknowledged by his alma mater, Dartmouth College, with its distinguished Alumni Award. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Aires has been showcased nearly a dozen editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in Finance and Industry.
