Having begun his career in show business as a child actor with The Kenley Players, Mr. Slaff returned to the theater as a young actor in New York in the late 1970s. In the intervening time, he had graduated from Yale and Columbia Business School and worked as a publicist in professional sports. Producers he had worked with as an actor became a foundation of clients for him when he began his practice as a theatrical press agent. Today he provides media relations and audience development services for a wide variety of clients including cultural institutions, professional theater and dance companies, NGO's, independent film producers and self-producing artists of all kinds.

Theaters he has achieved success with include La MaMa Experimental Theater, Theater for the New City, Shakespeare in the Parking Lot, The Drilling Company Theatre, The Negro Ensemble Company, New Federal Theatre, The American Place Theatre and the Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theater. Over the years, artists he has represented have accrued numerous Obie, Bessie, Theater World and Outer Critics Circle Awards.
In addition to his exemplary work in arts and entertainment, Mr. Slaff is renowned for his research on the economic impact of the 9/11 attacks on artists in New York City and vicinity. Between 2002 and 2004, on behalf of DowntownNYC in conjunction with the Consortium for Worker Education, he conducted what were the world's first economic impact studies on artists. He later founded Halt Ebola, which works to support Doctors Without Borders, and was the Chairman of the Task Force in Arts and Entertainment of the Streaming Media Alliance. Currently, Mr. Slaff is a public member of the Arts/Institutions Committee of Manhattan Community Board Two.
His successes as an actor include a variety of TV's funniest commercials for Wendy's and Federal Express in the 1980s and a very successful revival of "Duet for Solo Voice" by David Scott Milton at Theater for the New City in 2010. He has also appeared in numerous award-winning industrial films.
In the coming years, Mr. Slaff aims to pursue more work as an actor and to continue developing theater productions and independent films.
