Driven by a desire to help others, Ms. Donaldson-Steverson pursued a career in nursing, during which she found success as a staff nurse with the University of Michigan Medical Center and a registered nurse with Arbor Hospice Personalized Nursing Services in 1990. She subsequently gained valuable expertise in nursing with Interim Healthcare and Caremark, where she honed her expertise in nursing and case management. During the mid- and late-1990s, Ms. Donaldson-Steverson worked for Mahoning County Justice Center, Interim Healthcare, Forum Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Saint Elizabeth Humility of Mary Health Center and the Youngstown Community Health Center in varying roles.
After the turn of the century, Ms. Donaldson-Steverson transitioned toward management positions within the industry, working as a case management registered nurse for MVI Hospice between 2003 and 2004. She subsequently became a nursing supervisor with Forum Health, where she managed the day, evening, night and weekend nursing operations at North Side Medical Center, Todd Children's Hospital and Beeghly Medical Park. Supported by a wealth of expertise, she obtained roles of increasing responsibility with such institutes as the Children's Medical Center of Dallas, Trinity Hospice, Express Health Professionals, Vista Care Hospice and Faith Hospice. Additionally, Ms. Donaldson-Steverson channeled her vast breadth of knowledge to pediactric patients and staff as a Unit Manager at Children Hospital in Dallas and then students at Collin College and Kaplan University.
Presently, Ms. Donaldson-Steverson dedicates herself to her students as a professor of nursing at Dallas College formerly known as El Centro College in Dallas, Texas. In addition to constantly re-evaluating her instructional processes to ensure the success of her students, she maintains accurate and complete course records and participates in the development and support of her students by recommending books and materials, revising curricula and recommending teaching assignments when appropriate. Ms. Donaldson-Steverson remains aware of ongoing changes in the field via her professional alignment with the National League of Nursing, the American Holistic Association, the Hospice and Palliative Association, the National Black MBA Association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. ,Continental Society and Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc., just to name a few.
Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Donaldson-Steverson earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from The Ohio State University in 1990 and a Executive Master in Business from Youngstown State University in 2003 before completing a Master of Business Administration from the same institution. Eminently qualified in her field, she has also received certifications in aromatherapy and EKGs and become a licensed registered nurse in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Illinois. Dedicated to her community, Ms. Donaldson-Steverson contributes during her spare time as the president of the Dallas chapter of Continental Society Inc., National Treasure of Continental Society, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. (Social Action Committee), One Community Church (Welcome Ministry/Online Ministry), Mahoning County Coalition for Cancer Prevention.
In light of her professional excellence, Ms. Donaldson-Steverson has been recognized on many occasions, earning scholarships through the Ohio State University Freshman Foundation, The Ohio State University College of Nursing, Eastern Star and Chi Eta Phi Sorority. Throughout her career, she has also been acknowledged with an Outstanding Young Women in America Award, the Black Student Leadership Award for Outstanding Personal Achievement, the University of Michigan Grant from the Center for the Education of Women and the University of Michigan Professional Nurse Traineeship Award. Looking toward the future, Ms. Donaldson-Steverson aims to become an academic dean.
