Mr. Bobbitt of Bobbitt & Roberts has represented clients as partner of his law firm for the past 20 years. Established in 1996, he focuses his practice on matters pertaining to film and television. Following his experiences in college, he began his career as an attorney for the East Palo Alto Legal Aid. He subsequently became an associate for Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York City before joining Loeb and Loeb LLP in Los Angeles in 1974. A large, multiservice law firm that specializes in working with major corporations, high net worth individuals and families. Eager to switch gears, after 22 years with Loeb and Loeb (18 as a partner in the Entertainment Department), he founded his firm.
Lecturing prolifically in his field, Mr. Bobbitt has spoken at numerous institutions in his area of expertise. He has also been instrumental in his community by serving on various boards, including as a member of the Friends of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Legal Defense Fund in Los Angeles and the board of advisors of Operation Hope in Los Angeles. Other activities to Mr. Bobbitt's credit include former appointments on the board and as an executive member of the Constitutional Rights Foundation, as a board member of the Entertainment Industries Council and on the board of directors of the Arthritis Foundation.
Actively engaged with several professional organizations relative to his field, Mr. Bobbitt is a member of the National Bar Association and the Langston Bar Association. He is also a former president and board director of the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association. During this time, Mr. Bobbitt notably had the opportunity to mentor several young African American lawyers that were interested in pursuing entertainment law.
Mr. Bobbitt attained a Bachelor of Arts at Michigan State University in 1966 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence at Stanford University in 1969. He has been admitted to practice law since 1970. Mr. Bobbitt has received numerous prestigious accolades for his work, earning induction into the Langston Bar Association Hall of Fame and the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association Hall of Fame. He has also been named one of America's Top Black Attorneys by Black Enterprise Magazine.
