After serving his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps between 1988 and 1996, Mr. Cruz began dedicating his life to seniors as the director of operations for Angels Senior Board & Care, with which he excelled between the mid-1990s and 2007. He subsequently gained valuable expertise in executive roles with Atria Senior Living and RCFE Consulting Inc. With RCFE, Mr. Cruz utilized the Yardi billing system to identify billing loss of revenue, which resulted in him recognizing an extra $20,000 a month in care loss and $46,000 in bad debt.
Mr. Cruz currently leverages more than 20 years of expertise in senior care and child care operations as the chief executive officer of Hugs Foster Family Agency. Backed by his proven track record in healthcare and foster care settings, he provides on-going training for foster parents through the aforementioned agency. Driven to remain committed to veterans and stay aware of changes in the field of business, he aligns himself with American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Delta Mu Delta the Business Honor Society.
An expert in his field, Mr. Cruz pursued an education at the University of Phoenix, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2012. He subsequently graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Master of Business Administration in healthcare administration in 2017. Over the years, Mr. Cruz also became certified in human resources through the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, certified in employment law through California State University, San Marcos. He is currently getting his California ombudsman certification.
Outside of his primary work, Mr. Cruz has contributed to his community as a treasurer for the Parent Teacher Association at Ridge Crest Elementary School and a baseball coach for Temecula Little League as an ombudsman volunteer. In light of his outstanding accomplishments in the military, he was presented with a Humanitarian Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a Freedom Medal for the Liberation of Kuwait and two Combat Action Medals. In the coming years, Mr. Cruz intends to enter a well-deserved retirement and become a conservator so he can once again provide oversight in regards to the care for seniors who are not physically able to complete their daily tasks.
