Mr. Messerli is an entrepreneur and automotive sales executive with nearly two decades of experience in his field. He holds both a Bachelor of Arts in economics and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of California Davis, and was bestowed with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2010. A natural leader, Mr. Messerli attributes his long-term success in business ownership and sales to his ability to build rapport with his teams and clients, and his desire to build collaborative solutions with them.
Prior to entering the automotive industry, Mr. Messerli served as the co-owner and operator of Wetland Tree Planters, a seasonal landscaping business with a staff of 15 employees and a 20k revenue per month during the early months of the year. While he would continue to preside over the business until 2007, he accepted an assistant manager position with Enterprise Rent-A-Car in 2005. Quickly cultivating the sales and logistical skills needed to succeed in the industry, he was named as a company-wide top performer on five occasions. He left Enterprise and Wetland Tree Planters in 2007 to begin managerial training at a new Dealer Services Corporation branch in Sacramento. Building the location's customer base from zero, Mr. Messerli was responsible for accounting, training and tracking functions to help identify areas of growth.
Mr. Messerli was promoted to the position of general manager of the Sacramento Dealer Services Corporation location in 2009, where he exceeded annual revenue goals by more than $300,000 in just one year. He joined Cox Automotive in 2010 as an accounts executive responsible for the company's largest sales market and more than $40 million in annual sales. Likewise, in 2016, Mr. Messerli transitioned toward his current role as the company's director of performance management, in which he oversaw the group's Texas operations and provided financial analysis and strategy, and led the region to have the second highest sales in the company network during the first half of 2020.
In his time with Cox Automotive, Mr. Messerli has earned numerous sales and leadership awards, including three Silver Star Awards, inclusion in the President's Club and a 2015 MVP Performance Award. Dedicated to providing opportunities for all members of the community, he has volunteered his time with such organizations as San Antonio and Houston area food banks, Habitat for Humanity and PAWS Humane Society. He is also a former coach for the Blue Hole Little League of Wimberley, Texas. In the coming years, Mr. Messerli looks forward to continue growing within the automotive industry, and hopes to effect positive change for his team and the company as a whole.
