LEXINGTON, KY, October 01, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Yvonne Mary Karlen Erbe Bays with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Bays celebrates many years' experience in her professional networks, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her fields. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Leveraging 45 years of expertise within the field of education, Ms. Bays began her diverse journey in 1969 as a music and vocal teacher at Bayport High School in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and as an instructor of bassoon and the oboe at the University of Wisconsin. She later maintained involvement as a junior high school choral director for the Kenosha Unified Schools in Wisconsin from 1970 to 1975 and as a secondary high school director for the Fayette County Public Schools in Lexington, Kentucky, school district between 1989 and 1999. Additionally, Ms. Bays enjoyed a lengthy career as an adjudicator and clinician in both Wisconsin from 1969 until 1988 and in Kentucky for another decade, until 2000. Returning to college to pursue another avenue in education, after graduating she was ultimately acquired by the School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Lexington as a guidance counselor, where she remained for 15 years until her retirement in 2014.
A talented musician, Ms. Bays performed the bassoon for 15 years with various symphonies. She was also the conductor for the Lexington Children's Choir from 1995 to 1996 and for the Central Kentucky Youth Choruses between 1995 and 1998. When she was not performing or teaching, she provided her free time on the parent advisory committee in Wisconsin at Northern Hills School and Onalaska Middle School, and as an upward bound instructor at Eastern Kentucky University. A dedicated civic advocate, Ms. Bays volunteered her time as a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher, and in numerous capacities for the Great River Festival of Arts, including as President of the Board of Directors.
While coming of age, Ms. Bays' first music mentor was her mother, an eminently skilled piano and saxophone player. Undertaking piano lessons since the age of seven, she later learned the clarinet and the bassoon at age 13. After high school, she studied at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in music education in 1969, followed by additional postgraduate work. She later attained a Master of Arts in guidance and counseling at Eastern Kentucky University in 1992.
