An accomplished listee, Dr. Cameron celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Dr. Cameron distinguished himself for more than 40 years in the field of scientific research in global deserts and harsh environments while employed in California, Illinois and Nevada before retiring in 1996. His career, which began in 1955 with the Hughes Aircraft Corporation in Tucson, Arizona, later included several high level positions with Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Darwin Research Institute and Argonne National Laboratory. In 1986, he was acquired by Lockheed Environmental Systems and Technology Company as a senior staff scientist before working for Lockheed Martin Engineering and Sciences Company Inc. as a quality assurance officer and THAAD Lockheed as a bioremediation laboratory manager. Additionally, Dr. Cameron served as an environmental advisor for Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation during 1996.

Aligned with several organizations throughout his career, Dr. Cameron was an expositor for Overseas Cooperative Assistance in Bolivia. He was also active on the advisory board of the National Agriculture Research and Extension Users, served as a tribal representative of the storm water phase two subcommittee and a consultant to the science advisory board of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Other noteworthy roles to Dr. Cameron's credit have included his consultations for the ecology center at Utah State University and on the tundra biome at the University of Alaska, and creation of environmental/energy assistance programs for multiple American Indian tribes.

Dr. Cameron's incredible journey has included extensive study of harsh environments worldwide for Mars Viking Lander programs. He participated in seven Antarctic soil expeditions regarding planetary field analogues for astrobiology. He was also instrumental in finding and reviving microbes locked in Antarctic ice for over 10,000 years. His decades of research have included contributions of over 100 scholarly articles in professional journals. Dr. Cameron also published numerous technical reports and several books chapters as well.

Dr. Cameron received a Bachelor of Science at Washington State University in 1954. Continuing his studies, he transferred to the University of Arizona, where he acquired both a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in soils science and chemistry in 1958 and 1961, respectively, respectively. Dr. Cameron notably received a Paul Steere Burgess fellowship for his graduate work in 1959.

In support of his career, Dr. Cameron has been a member of several prominent professional organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Soil Science Society of America, the American Chemical Society, and the American Society of Agronomy. As a U.S. Army veteran, he is also a member of the Korean War Veterans Association and is a life member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as the Scottish American Military Society. Dr. Cameron secured several research grants for his work from the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of the Interior between 1970 and 1980. He also received three awards from NASA and an EPA Award of Excellence for the Global Climate Program in 1988.
