Supported by more than 20 years of experience in health care and education, Dr. Nuwah has excelled as a program lead and the chairman for the department of health sciences at Stratford University in Virginia since 2007. While serving in these prominent positions, Dr. Nuwah worked at the Sentara Hospital in Woodbridge from 2018 to 2020, and also at Inova Loudoun Hospital from 2017 to 2019, an adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia Hospital from 2010 to 2012 and an assistant professor in the department of science and applied technology at Northern Virginia Community College from 2008 to 2010. Earlier in his career, Dr. Nuwah garnered valuable expertise at obstetrics-gynecology unit of Sibley Memorial Hospital from 1999 to 2006 and an assistant research coordinator at Washington Hospital Center from 2004 to 2005.
At the beginning of his career in 1995, Dr. Nuwah was recruited as a Medical Coordinator for Sierra Leone Red Cross Society at Kenema Government Hospital in Sierra Leone, having thereafter continue to operate as the medical coordinator for the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society from 1996 to 1997 and at the International Federation of the Red Cross in Sierra Leone from 1997 to 1999. He previously pursued a formal education at Crimea Medical State University in Ukraine, from which he earned a Doctor of Medicine in 1994. Completing a Housemanship at Connaught, Princess Christian Maternity Hospital( PCMH), and Military Hospitals in Freetown, Sierra Leone, between 1994 and 1996, Dr. Nuwah later returned to academia and graduated with a Master of Science in health care administration, magna cum laude, from Stratford University in 2015.
Dr. Nuwah dedicating his time to civic endeavors outside of his professional pursuits, he provided his time and resources as a medical doctor for externships at Washington Hospital Center from 2005 to 2006 and a medical officer for Mclean Neuroscience in Virginia in 2003. Demonstrating versatility in his profession, Dr. Nuwah also co-authored "Surrogate Decision Maker and End of Life Decisions" in 2006.
Attesting to his immense success, Dr. Nuwah has accrued several accolades. In 2009 and 2012, he was honored with the Teacher of the Year Award from the Virginia Career Colleges Association. Aside from these achievements, he notes that his proudest professional accomplishment was helping students enroll in medical programs and subsequently become successful professionals. Dr. Nuwah has further maintained his affiliation with the American Surgical Association and American Surgical Assistant Association.
