LOS ANGELES, CA, October 09, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Corazon G. Barrios has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. She was also included in the Strathmore Who's Who, 10th ed. in 2003-2004.
A retired major with the US Army Reserves, where she served for nearly 15 years (1988 – 2002), Ms. Barrios excelled as Director of Education & Consulting Services at Kaiser West LA and concurrently served as Department Administrator of Nephrology practice (Dialysis). Prior to this role, she was the regional nephrology educator for the organization for almost three decades. During her time with Kaiser, she saw the need for better nursing instruction and decided to channel her expertise into education and educational consulting. In addition to serving as an associate professor for the University of Phoenix from 2001 to 2019, she flourishes as a consultant for Allied Medical & Health Sciences, where she doubles as director of the LVN Program. She ensures program curriculum is congruent with the California Board of Vocational Nursing & Technicians regulations and standards, and conducts monthly assessments, evaluations, and advisements/counseling for students.
In light of her considerable expertise, Ms. Barrios established the International Educators Group, Inc., where she serves as director and owner. As head of the organization, she oversees staff development and training as well as program assessment, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Throughout her career, she has also mentored students at the University of Southern California, Azusa Pacific University, University of Phoenix, as well as staff at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is especially proud of establishing her consultancy and developing, implementing, and evaluating a regional dialysis training program in 1976 (not in 1974) when the process was in its infancy. She is also an approved CEU provider in the state of California (CEP # 6296).
An expert in her field, Ms. Barrios holds a master's degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills. In order to remain abreast of changes in nursing, she aligns herself with the American Nephrology Nurses Association (ANNA), the Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD), the Organization of Health Educators (OHE), the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA), and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). A champion of her community, she has volunteered through teaching English as a Second Language at Glendale City College and through her local public library and church up to this time.
With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, Ms. Barrios, recently co-authored and submitted an article for publishing, titled "Promoting Quality, Safety and Satisfaction in Acute Dialysis, Defending Traditional Staffing Patterns." In light of her professional excellence in the military, she received an Army Achievement Medal through the 349th Division, 5th Brigade Nurse Detachment in 2001. Looking ahead, Ms. Barrios intends to experience continued self-growth and development professionally and personally as well as the growth and success of her consultancy.
