CEDAR PARK, TX, October 12, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dorothy Sicilia Stewart has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. A seasoned educator with 65 years of practiced experience to her credit, Ms. Stewart serves as an editor and educational consultant. Over the years, she has gained valuable expertise at the high school and collegiate levels, serving as a teacher at Ithaca High School from 1958 to 1961, and at Brimmer and May School in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts from 1969 -1989; as a visiting lecturer at Marylhurst College (now known as Marylhurst University) in Oregon in 1962, at Emory University in Atlanta from 1964-1966, and at Boston University from 1988-1991.
Although her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Stewart is especially proud of initiating the campaign for Father Robert F Drinan, SJ to run for the United States Congress. Additionally, she corrected a Latin error in a book authored by renowned author and commentator William F. Buckley, Jr. She has edited or created indices for numbers of books on subjects ranging from poetry and theology to engineering.
Before embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Stewart received a Bachelor of Arts from Nazareth College in Rochester, New York, in 1955. She was privileged to study with some of the great classicists at Harvard University, including Sir Arthur Darby Nock, Zeph Stewart, and J. Peterson Elder. Outside of her work, she has remained dedicated to her community, giving back as a member and spiritual advisor to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and as a volunteer at the Sioux Indian Reservation in Marty, SD. She is a Theresian and belongs to several church choirs.
Married in 1961 to Professor Douglas J. Stewart, she has three children: Prof. Devin Stewart of Emory University, Dr. Regina Stewart of Barrington, IL, and Daniel Stewart of Taos, NM as well as an "adopted" daughter, Dr. Alejandra Martin of Cedar Park, TX. Looking toward the future, Ms. Stewart intends to continue working with bright, motivated students and has no plans to retire.
