Accruing more than 40 years of experience in dentistry, Dr. Caldwell initially gravitated towards orthopedics as his choice of specialty in the medical field. As a carpenter with high hopes for his son, Dr. Caldwell's father continuously supported Dr. Caldwell's decision to pursue a career in medicine. After experiencing the personal restrictions of an orthopedic surgeon's lifestyle while working at a small hospital, he heeded the advice of a colleague and decided to complete an education in dentistry.
Dr. Caldwell subsequently enrolled in Baylor University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology in 1975. By 1978, he had obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston, now known as the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry. Particularly fond of treating children, Dr. Caldwell attained a certification in pediatric dentistry from the Texas Children's Hospital in 1981. Likewise, he is a certified pediatric dentist through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Throughout his tenure, Dr. Caldwell has ascended the upper echelons of the dental industry. He currently oversees and manages one of the top pediatric dentistry practices in the United States, titled Larry Caldwell, DDS, in Sugar Land, Texas, which he considers one of his most notable achievements. Civically involved, he has also maintained involvement with the Children's Museum of Houston's Sugar Land branch and CASA, a children's advocacy group.
The recipient of an Anesthesiology Award, Dr. Caldwell attributes his success to his determination and perseverance. He has consistently been named "Top Dentist' by Texas Monthly Magazine as well as "Best of" Fort Bend County on the local level. A leading innovator in his field, Dr. Caldwell is the inventor of, and holds a patent for, the harp Orthodontic Flosser. He plans to maintain involvement with his current practice in forthcoming future. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
