EUREKA SPRINGS, AR, October 14, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Cheri Yarborough has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Eastern Kentucky University, Dr. Yarborough began her career as a graphic, scenic and lighting designer for Educational TV, with which she remained between 1967 and 1975. Subsequently, she fostered her love of helping others into working as a massage therapist, founding the first massage therapy school in Wisconsin: the Lakeside School of Natural Therapeutics. A jack of all trades, Dr. Yarborough returned to her academic efforts, graduating with a Master of Arts in art therapy from Mount Mary University in 1996.
In the ensuing years, Dr. Yarborough served as a registered art therapist. However, she found herself asking why people do what they do, which inspired her to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy in psychology and become certified as a trauma counselor before completing an internship at the local veteran affairs hospital and at the Healing Center, a sexual assault and domestic violence support center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For the remainder of her career, Dr. Yarborough excelled as a psychotherapist with the Acacia Clinic, from which she is now retired.
Throughout her career, Dr. Yarborough has been affiliated with the Wisconsin Education Association and the American Massage Therapy Association in order to remain aware of changes in her fields. Outside of her primary responsibilities, Dr. Yarborough has contributed to those in need as a volunteer with The Purple Flower, a domestic violence support center in Arkansas, and as a donor to A Cup of Love, a nutritional suppprt center in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Due to her considerable expertise in varying industries, Dr. Yarborough has created numerous artistic works over the years, including "Inspirations for Crochet" and "Jacob's Road," and penned several articles for the Carroll County Newspaper and The Citizen. Additionally, she has illustrated a number of political cartoons for the Eureka Springs Independent. Looking ahead, Dr. Yarborough intends to illustrate a story about a man from China, which sprang from a trip there through the People to people program in 1989, In addition to further writing and traveling, she continues to look for new horizons in her well-deserved retirement.
