Driven to help others, Ms. Scott pursued a career in law, culminating in her current role as a Senior Counsel with the New York City office of Norton Rose Fulbright, for which she has represented some of the largest U.S. and international financial institutions in financial services regulatory, anti-money laundering, fintech, payments systems, and financial privacy matters. Recently, she has served as key quality control person for global regulatory compliance projects for three global banking and financial services corporations. Likewise, Ms. Scott has advised a number of international banks regarding the Dodd-Frank Act's Volcker Rule implementation.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Scott worked at two other major law firms in New York City, working with the firms' financial institutions groups advising domestic and international financial institutions on business options and regulatory matters.
Ms. Scott began her legal career in government service, first at the U.S. Treasury Department in Washington, DC and then as an attorney with New York State Banking Department.
Ms. Scott also has been involved with nonprofit organizations, serving on the board, most recently as chair, of New York Appleseed, which advocates for integrated schools and communities in New York City and New York State. She also is a past chair and current board member of ARIVA, which provides free tax preparation and financial counseling, focusing on the South Bronx.
In pursuit of her career, Ms. Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Villanova University. She subsequently put herself through law school and graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the American University Washington College of Law.
Ms. Scott's involvement with bar associations assist her in staying current on changes in her fields of interest. She serves as a member of the New York State Bar Association's House of Delegates, in which she currently participates as the vice chair of its Sections Caucus, and is a past chair of the Association's Business Law Section. She also is a long time member of the New York City Bar Association, where she serves as a member of the banking law committee.
Finally, Ms. Scott is a frequent author and co-author of articles in her areas of expertise, including the chapter "State Regulation of Foreign Banks," which is a chapter in the book Regulation of Foreign Banks & Affiliates in the United States. She also has written a regular column on international banking law issues for The New York Law Journal for over 15 years. She is an editor and frequent contributor to the Norton Rose Fulbright Regulation Tomorrow blog, which focuses on financial regulatory issues across the globe.
As a teenager, Ms. Scott decided she wanted to become a lawyer and has been fortunate enough to be able to realize her dream and plans to keep on learning as her career continues to progress.
