Additionally active as the owner of the Secret Garden Café in Waupaca since 2003, she simultaneously excelled as the owner of the Green Fountain Inn, a bed and breakfast, which she established in 1995. Prior to these roles, Ms. Oerter had contributed to the medical field for 25 years.
Recruited as a medical technologist at the Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, WI, from 1970 to 1976, Ms. Oerter later held the same role at Iola Hospital in Iola, WI, from 1979 to 1986, with which she additionally served as a wellness consultant. Subsequently, she refined her skills in a number of positions with the Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca between 1986 and 1995, including as a wellness consultant, a medical technologist, a hematology supervisor and an in-service coordinator. Civically engaged as well, Ms. Oerter previously provided her time and expertise to the National Wellness Institute and the American Lung Association.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Oerter pursued an education at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in 1971. She continued her academic efforts with a Master of Science in business management at Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee in 1993. Notably, she was certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology in 1971. Active in her field of interest, Ms. Oerter is professionally affiliated with a number of relevant organizations, including the National Association of Female Executives, the National Platform Association, the Waupaca Chamber of Commerce and the Wisconsin Bed and Breakfast Association.
In recognition of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Oerter was presented with the Small Business of the Year Award from the Chamber of Commerce in 2013. Likewise, she accepted the Athena Award in 2003. Ms. Oerter has been further featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
