SPOKANE, WA, October 20, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Isabel "Izzy" M. Derrick has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Supported by more than 25 years of professional experience in the aerospace industry, Ms. Derrick found success as an experimental missile electrician at Boeing, in which she was the lead electrician for the Experimental Missile and Special Projects programs, including ground support air and space vehicles. From 1993 to 2009, she also served as the founder of Technical Electronic Engineer Aide Contractor (TEEAC) Services. Notably, Ms. Derrick contributed her skills and expertise to both the Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) during her tenure at Boeing. Punctuating her appointments at Boeing, she served Precision Acoustic Systems in Seattle as a production supervisor and manager, and subsequently assumed responsibility of production supervisor and contract employee for the COE Dalles Hydro Acoustics Systems Project from 1995 to 1996. She helped build physio-control heart defibrillators in 1994.
Among her numerous achievements, Ms. Derrick impressively designed and built test boxes to test pressure reducer bypass valves for Nabtesco Aerospace alongside her husband, John, a retired inspection supervisor FAA ODAR for Nabtesco Aerospace. Her company TEEAC Services also built B757/B767 shunt resistor assemblies for Teijin Seiki America and Nebtesco Aerospace. She also helped design and built the 777 integration test units for Teijin Seiki America. Additionally, she worked with armor, composites and top-secret military prototypes. Likewise, she utilizes computer technology to engage missiles from submarines to be directed by remote control to its destination. She also worked with lightweight exo-atmospheric projectiles with remote control capabilities after ignition from the ground location. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Derrick obtained numerous military specifications and certifications.
As a further testament to her success and longevity in the field, Ms. Derrick was named Employee of the Year by Boeing in 1985 and Employee of the Month by Boeing in both September and October of 1985. The recipient of a Letter of Recognition from the chief engineer of a project she completed in an electromagnetic pulse laboratory in 1986, she further accepted an Award for Outstanding Performance and Support for a Sealance project in 1987, an Award for Outstanding Support and Professional Contribution on Weapons Control System in 1989 and a Pride of Performance Award for B-1B computer imagery graphics in 1998. A leader in the aerospace industry, Ms. Derrick received both the Award for Quality, Reliability, and Repeatability and the Federal Aviation Award for the Inertial Upper Stage program, the A&M Production for Outstanding Performance Award and the Delta IV Payload Appreciation Award. Even with her and her husband's busy work schedules they were able to foster 15 children including Sara Ward (in picture) who was 100% care from 5 months old to the age of 24 when she passed in 2015.
Born on January 17, 1950 in Detroit, Ms. Derrick passed away at Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, Washington on October 12, 2019. She spent her last 15 years in the dream home they built on the Columbia River (Lake Roosevelt). She is survived by her husband, John, and sister, Monique Lefebvre. A 34-year cancer survivor, Ms. Derrick will be remembered as a fun, unforgettable spirit who exhibited creativity and innate talent in all of her endeavors, and fought relentlessly despite the obstacles that came before her.
