Backed by more than 20 years of expertise in the hospitality industry, Mr. Vlad excels as the Chief Executive Officer of The Argyle, a nonprofit, private club in San Antonio devoted to the support of the Texas Biomedical Research Institute. Originally built in 1854, The Argyle employs 100 individuals and serves as a bond between the independent research institution and those who provide their time and money in support. As of 2020, The Argyle boasts 1,500 members, including 1,000 residents and 500 non-residents.
Before obtaining his current position, Mr. Vlad gained valuable expertise in the field as the Director of Operations for the Lotos Club in New York City. Throughout the course of his professional journey, he also had the honor of working with the Mark Hotel, the New York Palace Hotel and the Westchester Country Club, as well as Windows of the World. Though his career has been suffused with highlights, Mr. Vlad is especially proud to have moved from Europe to the United States at just 19 years old with almost nothing to his name and becoming the person he is today.
In 2017, Mr. Vlad earned a Master's in Hospitality Management from the prestigious Cornell University. Presently, he is pursuing a Master of Business Administration in Leadership and Sustainability from the University of Cumbria in the United Kingdom that he is expected to complete in 2021. Driven to further his education, Mr. Vlad has also received a BA in Restaurant Management from the Institute of Fine Arts, a level III Advanced Certificate in Wine Studies, a Hospitality Marketing Certificate and Financial Management Certificate from Cornell University and a Sommelier Certification.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Mr. Vlad retains professional alignment with the Club Management Association of America, the Wines and Spirits Education Trust, the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association and the Chaine des Rotisseurs. In recognition of his outstanding body of work and his commitment to the community, he was named among the Notable People of San Antonio in 2020. Looking toward the future, Mr. Vlad intends to graduate with his business degree and experience the continued growth of his career.
