NEW YORK, NY, October 27, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janet Sarno has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
As a child, Ms. Sarno drew inspiration from nature and a plethora of film presentations that she had the privilege to witness. One of the first pieces of media to make an impact on her was "The Merry Widow." The thrill of seeing for the first time, amazing singers and beautiful costume design inspired her to become an actress herself. Ms. Sarno earned a Bachelor of Arts from Southern Connecticut State University before receiving a Master of Fine Arts in speech and acting from the Yale Drama School, where she received two Hill Awards for excellence in acting.
Throughout her career, Ms. Sarno has appeared on Broadway (Equus, Dylan, Knockout, The Apple Doesn't Fall and Fish in the Dark.) Off-Broadway she appeared in "Marlon Brando Sat Right Here," for which she won a Villager Award. She also portrayed Mrs. Pearlman in the film "Requiem for a Dream," and appeared in several episodes of "Law & Order" between 1992 and 2004. Most recently, Ms. Sarno starred as Faigy in "To Dust," a film which chronicles the story of a Hasidic Jewish man following the death of his wife.
In addition to more than 100 appearances in various forms of media, Ms. Sarno spent 14 summers at the Williamstown Summer Theatre in leading roles. Presently, she continues to foster her passion for acting and teaching the subject as the director of the Limelighters Theatre Group who entertain seniors throughout the city. She remains aligned with the American Renaissance Theater where she won a Kaufman award for her play 'Dancing On Ice ', which she co-wrote with Anita Keal. She gives back to those less fortunate through Saint Jude Children's Hospital and various veterans' organizations. In the near future, Ms. Sarno aims to publish the monologues and plays she is currently writing.
