LAS VEGAS, NV, October 28, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Drina Fried has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After winning $25 in a newspaper art contest at the age of 10, Dr. Fried developed a lifelong love of art that she has continued to foster through the present day. Through a group she helped establish, The Tuscany Village Artists, she produces art on a weekly basis, specializing in embellished fabric art. Over the years, she has had her work featured in group and solo exhibitions at such institutions as City Lights Art Gallery, Henderson Cultural Center, the Las Vegas Art Guild, Boulder City Art Guild and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
In light of her stellar artistry, Dr. Fried has received a plethora of awards for her work, including Third Prize for mixed media at the Helldorado Show, a First Prize through the Las Vegas Art Guild juried show titled Local Color III, and Third Prize in mixed media for "Pillars of Creation-Birth of Stars," at the 31st Annual Celebrating Life Art Show at the Charleston Heights Art Center. Additionally, she was honored to write articles for the Henderson Art Association and Vegas Art Guild. The Arts Council of Kern also invited her to feature her work. As the only granddaughter of renowned novelist Taylor Caldwell, Dr. Fried secured the rights to her books and is in the process of turning them into e-books and audio books as lead manager of Descendants of Taylor Caldwell, LLC.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Fried gained valuable expertise in psychology as a marriage and family therapist and licensed educational psychologist in private practice; the Kern High School District; the Beardsley, Bakersfield City and Webster School Districts; and the Office of Psychoendocrinology at the Children's Hospital in Buffalo, New York. She has written several publications about psychology, including "Offensiveless Defense."
In pursuit of her career, Dr. Fried received an Associate of Arts in dental hygiene from Erie Community College in 1963 and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, cum laude, and a master's degree in guidance counseling from the State University of New York at Buffalo. In 1983, she obtained a Doctor of Education in educational and counseling psychology from the University of the Pacific.
In light of her outstanding work in the field, Dr. Fried received the School Psychologist of the Year Award through the Kern Association of School Psychologists in 2005. In the coming years, she intends to continue honoring her grandmother's legacy.
