Supported by more than three decades of professional excellence, Dr. Baker has been designated as the founder and Medical Director of the Sollay Medical Center in Baltimore since 2006. In his current position, he oversees a team of 10 physicians and healthcare providers working to address the coronavirus pandemic need for personal protective equipment in order to maximize the safety of frontline physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers. A clinical preceptor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing and Stony Brook University alongside this feat, he serves as a member of the board of directors of the American Association of Physician Specialists (AAPS), where he currently serves as immediate past president. A leader in his field, Dr. Baker also serves as the President of the North American Association for Photobiomodulation (NAALT); American Academy of Emergency Physicians; Katani Hospital in Katani Kenya and the Sollay Kenyan Foundation of which he co-founded.
The Foundation of his professional career, Dr. Baker pursued an education at Johns Hopkins University, where he obtained both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science. He later earned a Doctor of Medicine from the George Washington School of Medicine in 1984 and an honorary Doctor of Philosophy from Adelphi University in Nigeria. Additionally, Dr. Baker completed an internship and a residency in family medicine and women's health from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
Certified as a medical director through the American Medical Directors Association, Dr. Baker is board certified in family, emergency, geriatric and forensic medicine. In light of his exceptional undertakings, he was recognized with the Leadership Award and the Giddy Up Award from the AAPS. Although his career has been filled with achievements, he is humbled to have treated and healed thousands of lives while cancelling death for many others. Looking toward the future, Dr. Baker dreams to open 300 hospitals throughout the 54 nations of Africa to provide basic care for patients. Africans die daily from the lack of basic medical care.
