Having amassed more than 55 years of expertise as an interpreter and translator, Ms. de la Bandera is now working exclusively as a consultant on behalf of the Judiciary of New Jersey. She initially began her career as both a secretary and translator for the U.S. Foreign Service in Argentina and Uruguay in 1959, shortly after finishing her bachelor's degree. Ms. de la Bandera later worked for the Inter-American Council on Commerce and Production in Montevideo, Uruguay, and subsequently began to work independently. She also held various other roles, including as a senior editor for the Princeton International Translations in Princeton, New Jersey. Prior to consulting for the Judiciary, she served as a full-time translator, interpreter and test administrator from 1986 to 1996.
Some of Ms. de la Bandera's other part-time positions have included consulting and serving as a coordinator of interpreting services for the State of Massachusetts and the State of Washington. She has also been a consultant for the National Center for State Courts. Likewise, Ms. de la Bandera distinguished herself as a lead rater and oral Spanish court interpreter in the states of Tennessee and Florida, as well as a lead rater and supervisory rater for the State of Missouri.
In college, Ms. de la Bandera studied Spanish, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, at Colby College in 1958. She later became a Spanish interpreter through the U.S. Courts and an accredited translator through the American Translators Association of Spanish-English in 1987 and in English-Spanish in 1988. Shortly thereafter, Ms. de la Bandera completed a Master of Arts in Spanish translation at Rutgers University in 1991.
Ms. de la Bandera's professional endeavors included membership with several industry-related organizations, including the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators and the American Translators Association. She is also a member of Phi Sigma Iota and Alpha Delta Pi. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. de la Bandera has been highlighted in close to 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
