In his practice, he specializes in corporate restructuring and insolvency, with an emphasis on plans of arrangement under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, corporate recapitalizations, proposals and bankruptcies under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the enforcement of debtor and creditor rights. As counsel to debtor corporations, lending syndicates, bondholders and court-appointed officers, among others, Mr. De Lellis has represented notable clients in recent years, including Tervita Corporation in connection with a $3.5 billion recapitalization transaction, Sears Canada in connection with its CCAA Proceeding, Pier 1 Imports in connection with its CCAA Recognition Proceeding, and Bondfield Construction Company and its subsidiaries regarding its restructuring proceedings under the CCAA.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. De Lellis earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto. Subsequently, he received a Master of Business Administration from Schulich School of Business at York University and a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School. Upon graduating from law school, Mr. De Lellis was admitted to practice law through the Ontario Bar Association.
Mr. De Lellis aligns himself with a number of organizations, including the Insolvency Institute of Canada and the Turnaround Management Association, in order to remain aware of industry changes. Although his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. De Lellis is especially proud of being admitted as a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada, which is an organization comprised of some of the most senior and experienced practitioners in the insolvency field in Canada.
