PASADENA, CA, November 03, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- R. Lynette Walsh has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Now retired, Ms. Walsh enjoyed a rewarding career as an occupational therapist, beginning in 1965 at Exe Vale Hospital in Exeter, England. Promoted to the position of a senior occupational therapist at Cowley Road Hospital in Oxford shortly thereafter, she eventually relocated to the U.S. in 1970, whereupon she was acquired by Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Over the next three decades, Ms. Walsh garnered recognition as a prominent leader in her industry, working for various public and private organizations, such as the Wicomico County Health Department in Salisbury, Maryland, as a staff occupational therapist at the University of Texas Medical Branch, and for Beverly Rehabilitation in Monrovia and Country Villa in Arcadia, California, between 1994 and 2004.
Apart from her commitments in the field, Ms. Walsh served as a preceptor for occupational therapy students at the University of Boston, the University of Texas, the University of Puget Sound and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles between 1971 and 1998. She has also distinguished herself as preceptor and guest lecturer at Loma Linda University since 1989. A talented writer, she has contributed chapters to several books, as well as articles in various scholarly journals. Additionally, she has written travel journals and created travel scrapbooks as the result of her extensive travel. Since the age of 16, Ms. Walsh has notably traveled to 113 countries on all seven continents, the Arctic, and has visited all 50 states.
Coming of age in England, Ms. Walsh attended boarding school during her early education. After graduation, she received a diploma at the Saint Loyes School of Occupational Therapy in 1965. Remarkably, she received a distinction for her psychological occupational therapy practice exam during that same year. While living in the U.S., Ms. Walsh attained a Master of Arts in education at Salisbury State College in 1977.
Ms. Walsh's commitments to her community have included serving her parish church, Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, as a junior warden, vestry member and choir member. She does maintain these roles. She also continues to volunteer her time by participating in fundraisers for the choir, which she has been engaged in for more than 40 years. Aligned with several prominent industry related organizations, Ms. Walsh is a member of the Occupational Therapy Association of California and the British Association of Occupational Therapy. She has also maintained involvement with the American Occupational Therapy Association, where she became a registered occupational therapist.
