LOS ANGELES, CA, November 04, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Manu Farrarons with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Mr. Farrarons celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Farrarons is renowned as a master of traditional Polynesian blackwork tattooing and the owner of Mana'o Tattoo in Los Angeles. Celebrating nearly 30 years of practice, he is internationally recognized as an advocate for the preservation and promotion of his tattooing style, and has created tattoos for thousands of clients around the world.
Notably, his father was also a Polynesian tattoo master, beginning his practice in Europe in the 1960s. Growing up, Mr. Farrarons was fascinated by the work, and upon entering high school, he asked his father if he could begin apprenticing and learning to tattoo, though both of his parents objected to his request.
Mr. Farrarons subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science in geography and history from the Ecole Normal Mixte de Polynésie Française in 1989. He later began his career as a public school teacher for the Tahitian Ministry of Education. In 1991, his father, nearing the end of his own 35-year career in tattooing, needed help around the shop, and enlisted Mr. Farrarons, who was happy to study Polynesian art and practice tattooing.
Mr. Farrarons initially helped clients at Jordi's Tattoo Shop in Pape'ete, Tahiti. In 2003, he established his own tattoo shop, the first incarnation of Mana'o Tattoo Studio, in Pape'ete, where he would continue to tattoo until 2015. After guest posts at Zulu Tattoo and Royal Heritage Tattoo in Los Angeles, Mr. Farrarons relocated to California to found another location of Mana'o Tattoo.
Since 2018, Mr. Farrarons has tattooed and hosted other artists working in a variety of styles at his shop, servicing hundreds of clients, many of whom have traveled across states and countries for one of his unique, freehand pieces. He believes that his specialization in Polynesian art and techniques was the key to his success, and he has devoted decades to researching and studying the visual and tattoo culture of the region. Each tattoo Mr. Farrarons creates is individually-tailored to the client's body, and merges traditional geometric motifs with a strong awareness of placement and movement to communicate a narrative about the client and create a dialogue between the tattoo image and the way it will be worn.
As one of the leading voices for Polynesian tattooing during a critical era in mainstream tattoo culture, Mr. Farrarons has found success as an ambassador for Polynesian culture. He was appointed as Air Tahiti Nui's cultural ambassador, and is the subject of "Tatau, la Culture d'un Art," an award-winning short documentary film about the art form released in 2014. He has attended countless tattoo conventions throughout his career, and has garnered prominent honors at some of the most prestigious events, including accolades from Ink N Iron, two the Sydney Tattoo Expo, and a Best of Day Award from the New Zealand Tattoo & Art Festival. Moreover, Mr. Farrarons proudly served as the president of the jury at the 2014 Polynesia Tatau Convention in Tahiti.
A modern traditionalist, Mr. Farrarons continues to create unique and personal pieces for his clients, often working in several sessions to perfect the image. He counsels other potential tattoo artists to perfect their art before they consider any next steps, develop a strong sense of their personal aesthetics, and look for inspiration from art history, their own cultural heritage, and an understanding of anatomy before studying other tattoo artists. Mr. Farrarons intends to continue tattooing and teaching for as long as he is able, and is currently working on the development of a natural tattoo aftercare product based on Tahitian botanical formulas.
